Advantages:
- Propellant free
- Portable
- Less patient coordination is required
Disadvantages:
- Require drug preparation
- Inspiratory flow dependent
- Moisture and heat sensitivity
- Device variation
- Expensive compare to MDI
Difference between Metered Dose Inhaler and Dry Powder Inhaler
- MDI is propellant based, where DPI is Lactose based (No liquid used)
- DPI is more expensive compare to MDI
- Comparatively more patient awareness need for MDI
