Many of us have a confusion about the difference between Calibration and Validation, Qualification and Verification. Here we try to differentiate it very simply.
Calibration vs. Validation
- Calibration ensures that instrument or measuring devices producing accurate results.
- Validation provides documented evidence that a process, equipment, method or system produces consistent results (in other words, it ensures that uniforms batches are produced).
- In calibration performance of an instrument or device is compared against a reference standard.
- In validation no such reference standards are used.
Qualification vs. Verification
- Qualification is an act or process to assure that the equipment or system is properly installed, work correctly and complies with specific requirements.
- Verification confirm the authenticity of activities or data before assure the equipment or machine is ok. It's comprises of multiple checks on supplies, samples and data before forwarding the results of testing or qualification activities.
Qualification vs. Validation
- Qualification is a part of validation. Where includes- installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ).
- Validation is a documented evidence that a process, equipment, method or system produces consistent results (in other words, it ensures that uniforms batches are produced).
